Talent Unlimited

The ICA, in response to the Ukraine invasion, is asking agencies and clients to open their recruitment opportunities to industry colleagues from countries like Ukraine, as they seek to find shelter from the devastation they face.  Working with the All-Ukrainian Advertising Coalition (VRK) in Ukraine and the Marketing Communication Association (SAR) in Poland,  and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce we have collated several resources.

Job Vacancies

The Polish industry has created a website for agencies to post jobs, already more than 10 countries are placing their industry vacancies on this site - https://adaid.eu/en/.  Any Canadian agency or client marketing department that is looking for new talent should consider posting their vacancies here.  The people behind this are also looking for donations to keep this platform going, so please donate if you can:

The advertising community, as part of the AdAid.eu initiative, wants to offer support by making it easier for people from Ukraine to find job offers.

Payments can be made with the note “for statutory purposes” in the transfer description:

Humanitarian Aid

Our fellow agency association in Ukraine (VRK) in partnership with Ukrainian retailer Fozzy, has produced a document that can be used to help guide in providing humanitarian support.  Click here to download this.

Visas

We understand from our partners at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and immigration lawyers we have liaised with that the Federal Government has facilitated easier travel for Ukrainians.  There are still changes to be announced but upon arrival to Canada, Ukrainians are eligible for open work permits.  A humanitarian based, permanent residency program is anticipated, but for now, the focus is on getting people safely out of Ukraine.  You should seek legal counsel on immigration, the following are available to assist.

More than Ukraine

Ukraine isn’t the only country to be devastated by war or oppressive Government.  While not wishing to diminish the aggression and impact of Russia’s actions in Ukraine, many countries and peoples have faced this.  It is perhaps that it is a white, European war that brand and media attention is so strong.  The ICA feels that this sort of outreach should be open to more than Ukrainians and will be seeking connection to collaborate with fellow associations in other countries.  To support this the ICA is working with Jump Start Refugees https://jumpstartrefugee.ca/ and Talent Beyond Boundaries https://www.talentbeyondboundaries.org/.

More than agencies

Working with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, the ICA is supporting a call to other Canadian industries to reach out to their fellow associations in Ukraine and beyond to offer employment in Canada, adding to our strengthening diversity.
